Ask HN: What is the best intro to SLAM?

Hi HN,

I’ve been a software engineer for about 18 years. Web, desktop, mobile. Been around quite a few different languages and systems.

I’m very motivated to learn as much as I can about Simultaneous Localisation and Mapping (SLAM).

My long term goal is to be able to automate a fleet of UGVs in rough outdoor environments. I want to learn the basic principles, but also how to use the best and latest tech.

If you are in this field, where do you recommend someone like me start?
